Cosmelan Pigment Treatment:

 

Cosmelan is a programme for treating all types of hyper pigmentation. Hyper pigmentation is a growing concern in all ethnic groups and skin phototypes. 90% of people of 50 years of age present with varying types of hyperpigmentation from Melasma, post inflammatory hyperpigmentation, sun induced pigmentation and genetic types of hyperpigmentation. All of these different types of pigmentation are extremely difficult to treat and Cosmelan is a 6 – month programme to finally correct and regulate the amount of melanin being produced, so we are not just treating the surface but finally treating the cause of the pigmentation at the source of the problem at the melanocyte.

 

Cosmelan is a depigmenting method that removes spots and prevents their reappearance for a short-term outcome, while being able to maintain hyper pigmentation under control for a long-lasting outcome. The Cosmelan method consists of 4-phases which are necessary to achieve the target outcome. Intense depigmentation is performed in phase 1 and 3 in clinic treatment and then for home use in phases 2 and 4.

The synergistic action of the method products ensures higher depigmenting efficacy, and greater comfort during treatment with lower risk of re pigmentation.  Compliance with home care is essential to meet the depigmenting objective in the short and long term.

This includes 2 salon treatments, 2 follow up consultations and a 6 mth homecare pack to work with.  Photos are taken at each appointment to assess progress.

The 6mth homecare is a guideline, and quantities should be adhered to in order for the products to last that time frame.

IPL Pigment

 

The M22 IPL machine is the latest innovation in IPL/Laser technology, with proven results for skin pigmentation.

 

IPL works by targeting the melanin cells sitting within the skin that have been stimulated from sun exposure, bringing the pigment to the surface of the skin and then it naturally exfoliates itself off, leaving a clearer fresher looking skin. 

 

IPL is not suitable for all skins, it is not suitable for anyone with a Fitzpatrick 4 or above or people that suffer from post inflammatory pigment from trauma or certain scarring.  IPL is not suitable for moles.  It does not solar keratosis or pre cancerous growths, these need to be treated with our Cryopen that we do in clinic or possible our Plasma Pen.

 

Once your pigment has been treated it requires a commitment to changing your lifestyle and the use of tyrosinase inhibitors a good quality SPF daily to maintain your results.
